Ship Stability: Theory and Practice
The textbook by Anindya Banerjee, Master Mariner: a complete course in ship stability in three Parts for the Officer of the Watch, Chief Mate and Master examinations and for degree students. Every worked example and question is set on one training vessel, MV Ninja, whose full data booklet is in Appendix A.
The book
Two premium colour paperbacks sold as a set: Volume One (Parts I and II, Chapters 1 to 28) and Volume Two (Part III, Chapters 29 to 42, with the appendices on the companion software). The whole book is also published as one Kindle edition. Available soon on Amazon.
The companion software
Stability Solver Animated, Book edition, comes free with the book. It solves forty problem types in six families, carries 118 interactive laboratories and animations keyed to the chapters, and includes the MV Ninja data as the file ninja.json. Download it below, open it, and use the button on its licence screen (or the button below) to get your free key: you give your name, your email address and answer one question about the book, and the key is shown and emailed to you. The Windows download is a zip of 155 MB. The macOS download is a dmg inside a zip of 158 MB; the Mac build has not yet been tested on a Mac.
The films
Every chapter of the book opens with a QR code that leads to the chapter's film page. The films are being prepared; each page shows its film as soon as it is ready.
